OAMARU, January 14. The annual prize firing of the North fUaijo Rifle Association commenced to-day in fine weather but a variable light, Comiwtitors were present from North Otago, Duriedin, Taiori, . and Kaitangata. The principal prize-winners, were:—President's Match, seven shots' at 200 and 300 yards: Corporal M'Laren ■ (I'almerston) first, with a ecore of 67; Sergeant..Smith (Oamaru), second, 67; Private- Leslie (Oamnru), third, 64. No. 2 Match, seven shots at 300 and 600 yard-i: T. M. Smith (Oamaru), first, 63; Corporal Stnail] (Kaitangata), second. 61; Sergeant Fleming (Palmerston), third, 61. Tho leadms; scores are: T. M. Smith 127, Sergeant M'Kenzie 125. Corporal Smaill 123, Private M'Laren 122, Bugler Smith 121. OAMARU, January 15. No. 6 Match. Seven shots at 200 yds.— Trooper Manly, 31, 1; Private Bennett, 32, 2; Lieutenant Nichol, 32, 3. Before the shooting finished in the evening a gale from the south sprang up, making good shooting an impossibility.
