SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

• Tiie residents of Kokonga. held a very successful and enjoyable social in the Kokonga r ' Schoolhouse on. Friday evening to say goodbye to Mr and Mrs Wilson, who are leaving ! that district to take up new duties at r Rough Ridge. Mr Robert Dickison presided, and tin a short address spoke of the high esteem in which Mr and Mrs Wilson were held. After a very pleasant programme had been gone; through Mr Wilson was presented with a beuutiful silver-mounted ,pipe from his fellow-employees, and later on in the evening with a'travelling trunk, and Mrs Wilson with . a handsome tea set, from the residents of the locality. "Mr Wilson, on behalf of himself and his wife, suitably thanked those present for their good wishes and the handsome presents. During the. evening refreshments wore sup- ' plied by the: ladies, and dancing was kept up to the small hours of the morning, when the ■ sieging of "Auld lang syne" brought the . proceedings to a close. The programme was contributed.to by the following: —Mrs Millar, * Messrs Borham, Milla.r, Ryan, Pringle, Amies, » Muligan, and Rawcliffe. ' For the danco, music was supplied, by Messrs Douglas Bros., and Mr Hansen, made a most efficient M.C. A very' pleasant social in connection' with the Warrington Auglican Church was held on ■ Wednesday evening in the Evansdale Hall, kindly lent for the occas : on by Mr Howard. During ihe evening the following gave musical selections:—Misses Howard (2), Gardiner, 1 Drury, Messrs Gardiner, Brady, I Jones, and Croft; while Mr Jones (of Seacliff) presided at; the piano. A dialogue was given 5 by" Miss Pullar, Miss Toodi;, Miss Downes, ard j Mr J.. Brady, who took their respective parts : in a manner worthy of the highest praise. ' Light refreshments, provided by the Warrington ladies, were handed round in the interval. The arrangements as a whole reflected great credit on all who had worked so hard to make the social one of the most enjoyable held of ) < late in the district, which it undoubtedly :, ; was.
