TIMARU, AUGUST 11 Tho Education Board to-day disousscd tho subjects to be dealt with by the EduCa- I tioii Conference at Wellington, with a view to instructing their delegate. They decided to recommend the conference to approve of 'the Government granting the same subsidies for secondary education in high schools as are given to district high schools, that the, 2s 6d incrcasa under " Tile Teachers' ,Sala- : I'ie-s Act, 1S01," be placed in the hands of tho board pro nit-a to meet the following expenses:—lncrease, when judged expedient, to teaohers of smaller schools, payment of sewing mistresses where necessary, conveyance of pupils living long distances from schools, providing for relieving teachers and any other objcct connected with the better stalling of schools. They also suggested increasing the incidental grant from ills 3d to 12s or 12s 3d. With these additions to revenue the board could carry on comfortably. The board decided against the periodic exchange of inspectors.
