CONCERT AT SOUTH-EAST VALLEY.

ith the object of raising hinds for the presentation of medals to returned troopers from Hie district a concert was held laat evening in the North-East Valley Town Hall. The concert was under the patronage of the North-East A a.ley Borough Council, and was worked up by a strong committee, including members of the council and au energetic secretary in Air W. Anderson. Tho Mayor (Mr 11. Duncan) presided. The seating accommodation ot the hall was taxed to the uttermost, and i substantial amount should result. An excellent programme of vocal, instrumental, and other items was presented, and greatly enjoyed by the'audience, who prolonged its length by insisting on not a few additional numbers. Exclusive of the latter the programme was as follows.—Songs, "Tom Bowling" arid "Plight of ages," Mr A. Wright; "For all eternity," ilis3 Drake; "The pilgrim," My H. Drake; "Strangers yet,' 1 Mrs Gibson. .Miss Orange also contributed a solo, Mr and Miss Drake a duct, rind Messrs R.. Wilson, Flvmi, and Durston comic songs. Mr R. t VMiillios gave a cornet solo, Mr W. Smith a -uighland fling, Mr J. M'Kersey a tenor horn soio, Messrs Pophara and Clp.rU a scJiwntrcus, and Mr Vivian a recitation " Kissing Cup." 'Ihe North-East Valley Band, under Bandmaster R, Cook, was in attendance, and opened the concert with a selection, having previously piayed along the route to the hall. Miss N. Marshall acted ns accompanist dnring the .evening, being assisted by Miss Drako and Mr 'lowsey. At the conclusion of tho concert a very enjoyable danco was hold, which was well attended and kept up with spirit.
