The Ashbnrton Airricultural and' Pastoral Association has finally decided on securing for the county the services of a dulyqualified veterinary surseon, whose income shall be not less than £300 per annum. A guarantee for this amount has been freely signod by a large number of agriculturists and pastoralists.

A meeting of the Lily of tlio Valley Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held in Albany Street Hall on Monday evening, the C.T. nresiding. There was a good attendance. Officers were elected for the ensuing quarter. Harmony was contributed bv Bros. Robertson, M'Oonnell, Nisbet, S, Morrison, and Sis. M'Meckan (songs), and Sis. Forrester (recitation). A vote of thanks was passed to the visitors, and responded to bv Bro. Robertson (Pioneer) and Bro. Monkford (Hope of Dnnedin).
