' Tho monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held yesterday, and'atcoded by Messrs' George Koberts (president, in the chair), George MacEwan, T. T. fiitchie, J. W. Blair, W •Souter, D, Andrew, R. Gawn.'AZ Todd, J. Lcthbridge, J. Shiel, W. H. Taggart, W. Patrick, John Angus. J. Nimmo, W J Charters, James Patrick, Hon. T. Fergus! Apologies, were received from Messrs A. Johnson, H. M. Driver, J. C. Gow, W Jslackie, A. C. Strouach, H. Buckland, T. ■Muir, and A. S. Qrbell. A considerable amount of correspondence ■was considered and dealt with. ■ Mr W. F. M. Buckley wrote offering £5 5s as a special prize for the best thoroughbred stallion at tho horse parade.—Received with thanka.
The Oamaru and Timaru A. and P. Associations wrote with reference to show dates. On the motion of Mr J. W. Blair, seconded by Mr W. J. Charters, it was unanimously decided to fix, as the dates for the forthcoming summer show, Thursday and Friday, November 17 and 28. It-was resolved to' hold the annual horse parade at Tahuna Park on Thursday, October 2, 1902, and.the judges to act in each section were nominated by the committee.
Accounts for £157 19s 6d were passed for payment.
The lion, treasurer laid on the table a statement of receipts and expenditure in comwetien with the late winter show, which was considered very satisfactory. Ton new members of the society were elected.-
. In the afternoon the president and members of the Grounds Committee, with the secretary, visited Tahuna Park with a view to arranging for necessary alterations to the rings, stalls, etc., and also to inspect various improvements that have been made on the show grounds. The site. for tho proposed CTand stand was also inspected, and various details in connection with tho erection of same were carefully considered. Before the committee dispersed the President. (Mr G. Roberts) thanked them for the attentions tlioy'hnrt given to the business of the society, ,ind hoped that thoy would shortly pay another visit of inspection to the park, thus greatly helping the executive officers in carrying out their work.
