DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB
The monthly meeting of the Dunedia' Jockey Club Committee was held last evening, there lining present-Messrs S. Solomon (in the chair), Ewing, Carr, Myers, Cougiiian, and Vigers. Apologies were received from Messrs P. Miller, W. Dawson, i\Y. H. Tngcart, and J. Mills. Tho following officers and subcommittees were appointed.—Judge, Mr R. Ewiogtreasurer, Mr A. E.*B. Carr (a hearty vote of thanks being voted'to Mr Carr for his valuable services in the past).- timekeeper, Mf F. J. Townsend; starter, Mr H. Piper, Jiondicapor, Mr George Dowsfij .secretary, 3lr H. L. James; surgeons, Drs Allan and Cioss; veterinary surgeons, Messrs Hamilton and Snowball: clerk of scales. It was resolved that tenders he called for the privileges for 12 months. A letter was received from the Press Company asking tho club to vote a bonus towards publication of Now Zealand Turf Register.—lt was decided that £10 10s should be voted on the usual conditions. A letter was received from Mr J. Bronsell, owner, of Visionary, asking the club to inquire into the ownership of Kcd Bannor, who was awarded the stakes in the Abbotsford Welter Handicap at last autumn meeting.—lt was decided to replv that the committeo was of opinion that 'the objection was too late, and could not be entertained.
A letter was received from Mr T. Buddicombe requesting a further grant from the Jockoys' Fund, as he was still in the Hospital.—lt was resolved to grant 30s ? 'week for four weeks.
It was decided to allot the same amount of added money as last year for the ehsu!inc year's programme. The Secretary reported that the improvements at the course were going cu satisfactorily. The large 18in drain was finished, also the open drain round the outside of the track. The hollow in the back straight at the six-furlong post had been filled in, and the turf replaced. The fillin 2-in of dip in tho straight was now under way, a-.id woiild shortly ho finished. The following licenses wore granted:— Trainers—H. Jackson, J. P.uttledge, J. A. M'Ginness; jockeys—John M'C'ombe, H. xtiiimerson, L. G. King;, H. Jackson. It was resolved that- bookmakers and toteocttors be not allowed on the course at any meeting during the year.
