The outbreak of anthrax at Te Awamutu, Waikato, appears to have been satisfactorily dealt with. No cases occurred beyond the three at first reported. ments.... The occupants of some of -flip offices in the Queen's Chambers, Wellington, were thrown into a great slate of excitement on
Monday afternoon (says the New Zealand Times), when it became known that a largo dilapidated rat, supposed to he ".suffering from symptoms resembling bubonic plague" had been captured within the building. The. rodent was eo bulky that it was scarcely able to move. After it had boon murdered the Health Department was communicated with, and the remains of the creature were removed- to the Government laboratory in Sydney -street for examination. The .investigation is not vet competed.
