THIS CAPPING CARNIVAL.

As is usual with the Students' Association of the Otago University, the capping of the graduates will be celebrate! by the holding o! a carnival at the Agricultural Hull this evening, ihese festive gatherings have in the past been highly successful, and a considerable section of the public have come to look forward to the cnteriainm;nt with as much interest as the students themselves. These latter have for some time past been exercising their wits in the composition of songs and '■ skits" in; verso upon the doings of public men, This year the students have gathered together many of the incidents of the past few mohths which lend themselves to caricature. The ""Waxworks," a department which always has been populcr with the public, will bo again a feature, and there arc a certain number of public characters to be represented. The songs aro said to bo calculated to afford a hearty laugh without giving offence, A special feature is being made of the liakas. A number of musical and other fa-rces are included in the programme, and considerable trouble has been expended in writing and- working them'up. Another unique attraction will be a juggling act. The graduates will be the guests of the association, and will have special seats reserved for them,

After tho carnival there will be a dance in the Victoria Hall, and here a special feature in the way of ping-pong tables for the nondnncers will be provided. A largo number of tickets have been sold, and tho financial success of the carnivals already assured.' Only a limited number of tickets have been issued for* the dance, so that there should not be an unseemly rush thereat.
