CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, .Tdlv 2. (Before Mr C. C. Graham, S.M'.) , Theit. —Daniel O'Brien, who pleaded "Guilty," was'charged witlu the theft of a tablecloth, valued at about ss, the property of some person unknown. — Sub-inspector Dwyer said that accused was arrested in the Imperial Hotel, having in his a tableoloth, winch lie was attempting to sell. Ho had been drinking, and admitted having stolen the tablecloth.' Some 12 months ago ho came here from Australia with Wirth's Circus. O'Brien said that he came in from the country .for the .Coronation celebrations, and had been drinking, and he could not remember how be' obtained the tablecloth. Before coining into town lie had been workin" on a threshing mill.-The Magistrate convicted the accused, and ordered him to come up for sentence when callcdaipon, saying that Jie did not like to send hini to prison for a first offence.
Assault.—James Piper was charged (on remand) with assaulting Harry Coughlan on June 28, so as to cause h'm actual bodily harm.—Mr Hanlon appeared for the accused.— As the injured man had not sufficiently recovered to'put ill an appearance, Sub-inspector Dwyer asked for'a. week's remand.—'The remand was granted, the same bail as before being allowed.
■ Prohibition Order.—A .prohibition order was granted against a man jjn tho application of his wife.
