(Received May 29, at 9.10 a.m.) The weather was warm and cloudy and the wicket fast to-day when the match between the Australians and M.C.C. and Ground was resumed. The attendance was only .moderate, . The overnight partnership was dissolved by Kelly catching timer at the wickets. Seven for 201. Storer succeeded, but quickly succumbed, Howell taking a nice catch wide out in the slips. Noble and Howell were bowling iu fine form. Twenty minutes' play had sufficed to dispose of two wickets. Eight for 207. Hearne joined Mitchell. Both batsmen adopted forcing tactics. Kuns came quickly, and at 258 a double chango of bowling was tried, Hopkins and Armstrong going on, 'but without effect. The score rapidly mounted, Mitchell showing splendid defence. With eight wickets down for 280 the innings was declared closed, Mitchell having 55 to his credit and Hearne 35.

(Received May 29, at 11.15 a.m.) Requiring 249 runs to win, Trumper and Duff opened the Australian innings. By good hitting the half-century was soon reached, and at 55 a change of bowling was tried, Hearne relieving Trott. Despite other changes, no separation was effected till the century was almost, in fight. Eventually Duff skied Cranfield, Trott taking a catch in the slips. The partnership lasted 55 minutes. One for 91. Hill followed, and when the score had reached 98 the rain commenced.
