ROYAL RECEPTION COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the .Royal Reception Committee was liold at the Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon, Mr R. Chisliolm presiding. An apology was received from Ills Worship tlio Mayor. The Secretary submitted a detailed statement of all the receipts and expenditure in Connection with tlio reception, and expressed regret that owing to several local bodies declining to nay their contributions promptly lie was unable to submit tlio staierannt at rin earlier date. He explained that there are still a lew outstanding subscriptions to collect, and also a few disputed accoiint.s to settle. He had prepared a general statement of the accounts to date, which was fluty certified to by Messrs W. Brown and Co. (hi llie morion of Mr Thomas.Scott, the audited balance sheet was received and adopted, and the chairman, Mr T. R. Christie, and the mover were itnnointed to deal with the amounts still outstanding. ' It was decided to communicate with the Roslyn Borough Council requesting them to pay the balance of their contribution and thus enable the committee to finally close the account. It may bn added that in addition to the above detailed statements wero submitted of the expenditure wider each heading. A glance through this statement shows that the expenditure on the whole was carefully supervised, especially when it is remembered that & good deal of work had to be done under great pressure of time.
