DUNEDIN BACKS The Dunodin Jockey Club's annual Winter meeting will be held tit the Wingntui course on Wednesday and Saturday, May 21 and 24 (Victoria Day). Tho first race !s advertised to start nt 13.30 and the last at 4.30 p.in, Visitors may rely upon catching the first through train to town atter the last race, which leaves the siding at 4,45, or 15 minutes after the race. Excellent entries and acceptances have been received by the club, and a real good day's sport is assured, no less than 10 being engaged in tho Hurdle Handicap and 11 in the chief roc?, (the Birthday Handicap), including such well-known performers as Pampero, Dmidaa, Jupiter, Canteen, Calibre, Terrapin, My Lillian, and others. This event alone should be well worth r. visit to Wingalui to see. In tho Tradesmen's Handicap, of six furlongs, the well-known sprinters Blazer, Goldspur, Red Gauntlet, Windwhistle, t.nd others are engaged. The minor events have also filled well, and a big attendance on the opening day of the meeting (Wednesday, 21st) is anticipated.
A Hobart message says that Mr Stringer, ol the steamer Rotoranliana, won the third prize 1 of £153 in Tatteraall's sweep on the Adelaide Cup. A London cable states that at the Kempton iParl; meeting the"Groat .jubilee Handicap re■'eultod thus:—Royal George 1, Wargrave 2, j Revenue 3.
