CITY COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the City Council will be held at 7.25 p.m. on Wednesday to consider and adopt a resolution by way of special order for the purpose of taking the necessary steps to raise by way of loap at the annual interest of 4 per cent, the sum of £4100, being the estimated difference between the accumulated pinking fund and the mortgage loans of £11,000 'and £2000, which mature on Ist February and let March, 1902, respectively, (he currency of the loan to be to Ist April, 1903; and that public tenders be called for the same. Cr Mailland has given notice that at the ordinary meeting he will move:—"That immediate steps be taken for the appointment of an electrical engineer thoroughly competent lo undertake and carry out the work of tramway conversion, and to this end a special committee consisting of the Finance Committee-, with the chairman of the Tramways Committee, be set up to consider the details of appointment and report to next meeting of council."
