KHAKI CARNIVAL AT MOSGIEL
Through the medium of a bazaar or " khaki carnival" the East Taieri Rifles are rnakinj an appeal to the public o( Mosgiel and surrounding districts for ossistance to their funds. The carnival was opened on Thursday night iu the presence of a very large number o[ persons. The stalls, which were handsomely decorated, were loaded with articles, and the ladies in attendance, looking extremely attractive in their fancy cc-stumes, vigorously pushed tho sale of them. A squad of the Dunodiu Engineers very kindly came out to tender assistance, and their electrical stall was one ol the principal attractions. Another popular resort was the gipsy stall, from which all those that" entered in search o[ information concerning their future partners and prospects came out looking supremely n.itisiied. Tlio bazaar waa patronised Inst night by n large number ot persons, iikil to-night, the concluding night, there should also be a gocd attendance. The following lire the names of tho stallholders:— No. 1, lolly stall: Jlrs Brown; assistants, Misses Brown and Wright. No. 2 work stall: Miss D. MacLeod: assistant!), Misses B. Fleming, MacLean, J. Xicol. and J. Smcaton. Xo. 3, electrical stall: Corporal Smart and a squad o( the Duncdin Engineers. No. J, worlt stall: Miss Blakoley; assistants, Jlisscn C. Haggcn and Lizzie Hicks. No. 5, refreshment stall: Miss Smealo'i; assistants, Mrs MacLeod, Misses A, MacLeo:!, Murdoch, Frew, and Horpei. No. G, fancy goods stall: Mrs Carncroas; assistants, Mrs 'MacLaurin and Miss Bruce. No. 7. flower filnll: Miss Sinclair; assistants, Misses L. vSinclnir. .lean Sinclair, and 0. Carncross. Fish pond: Miss Brown; assistant, Misa Cleveland.
