MODEL YACHTING.

The Otago Model Yacht Club held their eleventh series of races ,ou Lake Logan on Saturday. The wind was rather shifty, and caused the competitors a little anxiety, Tho first race on the programme was the first round of tho vice-president's (Mr Withers) trophy for first-class yachts. Four rounds of the race for second-class yachts for Mr T. Hurray's trophy have been sailed, and the Rob Roy, Toko, Thistle, and Ailsa have each secured a win in it. Messrs H. Heid and A. Cunningham kindly officiated es starter and judge of the courso respectively, giving every satisfaction. The following are the results:— First-class Yacht Hace.—Mr J. M'Phcrson's Welcome 1, Mr H. Diver's Mattio 2, 'Mr W. Brittenden's Huon Belle 3. Also started: Agatha. 11, Millie, and Shamrock. The hoats kept pretty well together, first one and then tlio other holding iwcrnier position. The Welcome and Mattio made a good race in the last round, the Welcome winning by 30sec. Time, 36min. Second-class Yacht Hace.—Mr W. Brittenden's Ailsa 1, Mr J. M'Pherson's Hob Hoy 2, Mr P. Fiudlay's Thistle 3. Also started: Toko, Irene, Florence. The Hob Hoy and Toko were in the van while the wind was strong, but on tho wind- lightening the Ailsa, which was carrying a big suit of sails, passed the leaders, and won a good raco by a minute from the Rob Hoy. Time, 30min. ■' Junior Hace.—Master A. Wilkinson's Sappho 1, Mr A. Williams' Rainbow 2, Master I'. Brittenden's Daisy Bell 3. Also started: Trilby, Dora and Kitten. This was a. grand raco throughout, tho boats going.through the northern posts in a cluster. A graiJd race ensued on the run home, tho Sappho winning by about sft, whilo the Hainbow and Daisy Bell were almost locked together, the judge'(Mr K. Wilkinson, jun.) giving second placo to the Hainbow.

INTERPROVINCIAL MODEL YACHT CHAMPIONSHIP. _ The interprovincial challenge race for the president's (Mr C. F. Greenslade) handsome plate 'takes place on Lake Logan on Friday'next, and on Saturday the interprovincial handicap race will be held. A race has also been arranged between the champion model yacht Shamrock .(imported by Mr Greenslade'from Hyda Park, London) and Mr Brittenden's Sunbeam (from Kensington Park, London). The secretary has received intimation from Christchurch, Lyttelton, and Auckland that thero will bo a largo number of. competitors, eight yachts coming from Christchurch alone, threo of which havo been built since the New Year. The Auckland yacht arrived by the Te AnafTon Friday, and she was out sailing on Sunday, showing a good turn of speed. Mr W. J. Strong has kindly consented to act as a judge on Otago's behalf for both days'racing.
