WANGANUI BAND CONTEST.

WANGANUI, March 15. The solo competitions were concluded today with 15 flat horns, in which ten bandsmen took part. Wanganui secured the three prizes-E. Gnuld, R. Blyth, and G, Jensen being placed in that order. The quartet contest resulted thus:—Wanganui (123 points) 1, Woodville (105 points) 2, Woodville No. 2 (94 points) 3. The marching competition was witnessed by a large crowd. The results were:—Wanganui Garrison—Music, 76; marching, 288;— total, 364. Woodville—Music, 66; marching, 269;— total, 335, New Plymouth-Music, 66; marching, 265;— total, 331. Palmerston North—Music. 66; marching, 259;— total, 325. Mastcrton-Music, 74; marching,, 248;— total, 322. Petone-Music, 75; inarching, 244;-total, 319. The contest concluded to-night. The following is the result;— Championship: Wan-

ganui, 357; Masterton (disqualified), 355; Petone, 317; New Plymouth, 306; Palmerston, 305; Woodville, 288.
