(From Ooe Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, March 14. His Excellency the Governor paid a visit during the afternoon to the studio of Mr Allen Hutchinsbn, the English sculptor, residing at Mount Roskill, and was quite astonished with the class of work he saw there, especially with the model of a statue of Sir George Grey in a sitting position. Lord Ranfurly was also much in- ' terested in the " studies from various native (races. His Excellency has paid visits 'to Storey's studio in Rome years ago, i and wno better work tlere. lord Ran- , furly states that on the return of Lady Ranfurly, on their visiting Auckland Mi Hutchinson's studio is one of the firs; places to which he will take her. H<\s ladyship has an extensive acquaintance nth art. and is herself an artist. At a meeting of citizens to take steps for the fitting reception of the Duke md Duchess of York, Mr Witheford, M.H.E., inferentiilly indicated his own action with ', regard to the mayoralty. Hβ said that i-o 1 doubi Dr Campbell wonld in due course ' present the citizens address to the Roynl i visitors, and that -he would be Iwipy, . financially or otherwise, to assist- in fei , proceedings, and then retired from the meeting to attend another one.
