(Per United Prkss Association.) 1 WELLINGTON, March IS. , Replying to a deputation which urged the [ acquisition of an estate near Waipawa for ■ close settlement, Mr Seddon said that the J machinery of the act was defective, aud he " intended to remedy it. There had been an Unnecessary delay in acquiring an estate in the vicinity. The Land Purchase. Board should fix the price which they were prepared to pay for estates in the market, and the Government should appoint an officer to attend land sales and bid on their be- • half.
