TAXING SUGAR.

(Received March 15, at 9.34 a.m.) In connection with the forthcoming Budget there is a growing belief that sugar will be taxed, 'since a tax of li per pound would yield a revenue of £3,000,000. A revival of the registration duty of Is a quarter on all imported corn is also considered possible.
