THE IMPERIAL TROOPS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sin,—lt is to be regretted that tho Imperial troops are coming he:e, after all tho innuendos and insults that have beon hurled against them in the public press. Surely the patrician, the patriot, the soldier, and the citizen are akin. If our Imperial authorities here cannot trust their brothers! in arms, how are the public to do so'! But tho citizens are more than willing to show their loyalty in accepting them as their guests. Many of tho citizens know quite well this is not the first time the soldiers of the Queen have been billeted in private houses. The world can easily judge our patriotic spirit by our late publications. All our mourning is in the eye, not the spirit.—l am, etc., J. J. Dunedin, February 2.
