RAILWAY TREATMENT OF LUGGAGE. TO THE BDITOIt. . Sir,—l niay be doing a public service by calling attention to the scandalous mariner in which passengers' luggage is treated by the porters at the Dunedin railway station. Two friends and I arrived by express from tho south yesterday, and we saw portmanteaux, tin boxes, canvas-lined boxes, everything being pitched upon tho platform as though they were bales of wool, one of the portmanteaux being burst open by the blow. One of tho tin boxes had evidently made several excursions to Dunedin. for it was smashed in in all directions. The scene was so disgraceful that I called tho attention of the stationmaster to it, just in time to save our own luggage from similar treatment. I have been to many railway stations in my life, but I have never witnessed such a wanton destruction of property before. I may add that I saw exactly the same scene hero about a fortnight ago, on m.v arrival by the Christdiurch express.—l am, etc., A Visitor. HEADACHE.
