THE PRINCE OF WALES'S MESSAGE. LONDON, January 22. (Received Jan. 23, at ll.'<i6 a.m.) The Frince v o£ Wales telegraphed the Lord Mayor after 4 o'clock: "Tho painful duty obliges me to inform you that the life of our own beloved Queen is in the greatest danger." NEWS OF THE DEATH RECEIVED IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, January 23. (Received Jan. 23, at 11.59 a.m.) The Queen is dead. (Received Jan. 23, at 8.52 a.m.) The Governor-Genetal has received a cable conveying thanks for the Commonwealth's sympathy with the Royal family. Earl iiopetoun is at present declining all social engagements. (Received Jan..23, at 1.53 p.m.) At a meeting of the Stock Exchange the chairman delivered a eulogium on the Queen. Tne Exchange immediately suspended business for the day. Many of the public- offices arc closing. It is expected that all business will be suspended to-morrow as a token of respect for the late Queen. All the theatres will he closed to-night. (Received Jan. 23, at 1.22 p.m.) The Admiral received first, intimation of the Queen's death, followed a few minutes later by a press message. Immediately the Royal Standard at Government House and all flags in the city and shipping were flown at half-mast. The Cabinet will meet at 12 to decide what steps shall be taken to proclaim a period of mourning. THE AGENT-GENERAL'S MESSAGE. (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 23. The Government received the sad news by cable from the Agent-general in this message: "London, January 22, 7.45. Regret Queen's death."
