•Drunkenness.—John Robert Cameron was fined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment; and John French 208, or seven days' in gaol. In the latter ease Mr Haynes, the chairman, of .tha Benevolent Institution Trustees, appealed, and! explained that French hod been very troublesome at tha institution.' A Filthy Act.—Alexander Harold, a middlengd man, charged with oxposnre beforo two, little girls at the Caledonian ground on the 21st inst.—The Sub-inspector stated that for Eomo time past complaints had been'made o£ the conduct of somo maa in the vicinity of the baths '.at St. Clair, and accused ,was under suspicion of being the man. On Monday ho met two little girls on tho Caledonian grounds, nnd gave them seme money. Ho subsequently! committed tho net complained of in a retired spot in the grounds, and appointed to meet the children at St. Clair. The children complained to their parents, and the parents informed the police. Next morning when the police and tho little girls arrivedtat tho beachj the accused was waiting, and was arrested.—. Accused stated to tho court that he had' been' H3 years in the town, and did not lmow. how. it was he made this lapse.—His Worship said the man had been guilty of a, disgusting and disgraceful offence, and would bo sentencedto six months' imprisonment with hard labour. Furious Driving.—William. King pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle along !Princes'street:. at a furious pace.—Snb-inspector ffiely stated l that, between 0 and 10 o'clock on the night) of the 15th inst, defendant was careering about in the vicinity of .the post office, evidently undec the influence of drink.
