ENTERTAINMENT AT PORT CHALMERS.
The Chrisfchurch Kinematograph and Gairiy Company made their first appearance in the Foresters' Hall, Port Chalmers, last night; when a largo audience assembled to witness their performance. Prom first to lost the company was rewarded with rounds of applause. No company has before visited the Port with so, complete an equipment of views. They include some splendid pictures of the Paris Exhibition and the points of interest on the River Seine, with scone 3 ifrom the Transvaal battlefields, the Chinese and Philippine wars, and some excellent English pictures. The musical arrangements wore in the capable hands of Mr Hanson. The vocalists, who wero loudly applauded for their olforts, .fere Miss Amy Vaughan, tlio well-known serio-comique and danseuse; Miss Ethel Marson, a clever singer and pianist?; Mr A. Blanchard, who possesses a powerful baritone voice; and that versatile genius Mr Harry Baxter, who, in addition to filling the onerous-position of manager,'kept the house in a perfect torrent of laughter by the rendition of some excellent comic, songs,. No less than GO pictures were shown, a few being of a comic, nature. Tho greater number of these wero very high class, most of ft cm having been purchased from Messrs Maskelync aael Cook, of the Egyptian Hall, London, The syndicate may rely on meeting a very friendly reception on their return to Port Chalmers. ■
