Sybille, which has been totally wrecked, was a sea-going deck-protected cruiser built at Newcastlo-on-Tyne in IE9O. She had a disolacement of 3400 tons, and was 300 ft long, 43ft beam, and T6ft sin in depth: her engines indicated 9000 horse-power, and she had a speed of 20 knots. Her armament consisted of two 6in and 'six 4Jin breech-load-ing guns, nine 6-pounders, and three 3pounder quick-firing, with four machine guns. The chief harbourmaster received a telegram yesterday from the captain of H.M.S. Mildura stating that she would arrive at the heads at 9 a.m. to-day. The s.s.
