HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
The usual meeting of the Dunedin Hospital Trustees was held in the hospital yesterday afternoon. There were present—Messrs P. Miller (chairman), J. Robin, J. Green, W. Wills, J. N. Brown, W; Wright, and J. Carroll.
The Hou3e Committee reported that a large number of donations had been received and duly acknowledged, and that the following tenders for annual .supplies had been accepted:— Drugs, Bagley and Son; meat, E. P. Lawrence; poal, J. Swan; bread, William Wood; milk, T. Lewis; groceries and wines, A. and J. M'Farlane; fish and fowl, W. Stewart; potatoes, J. Fleming; funerals, J. M. Gourley. It was ieported that Dr O'Neill, having been appointed assistant surgeon to the sixth contingent, had been allowed to leave the hospital on short notice, and that Dr G. Brown, recently house surgeon, had consented to tako up- the duties to the end of January. The resignations of Nurses Thompson and Donald had been accepted, and Messrs W. Wright and J. N. Brown had been elected trustees ifor the year 1901' at the meeting of voluntary contributors held on the 7th inst.—The report was adopted.
The Finance Committee reported showing that accounts for December, amounting to £533 2s 2d, Lad been examined/and passed for payment; that the receipts .for the last month were £307 17a Id, made up as follows:— In patients, £123 63 Id; out patients, £8 9s Gd; , (students' fees, £93 9s 6d; voluntary contributions, £66 14s; sales, £2; donations, £13 18s. I'he report also stated that tho sum of £52 10s had been received from Mrs Hugh MacNeil for the endowment of a cot in the Victoria children's ward in memory of her late husband.— Jteport adopted.
: - A letter was received from Messrs Dalgety, and Co., forwarding, on behalf of Mrs -Mary Nichol, of London, £5, that being that lady's half-yearly donation to the Dunedin Hos- • pital.—Acknowledged with thanks. Dr W. M. Jfocdonald forwarded £3, the contribution of the Medical Association; and Mr George Matthewson, stationmastcr at Henley, sent £1 for the purchase of fruit or toys for the children—Received with thanks.
Dr Bame'tt wrote on behalf of the medical staff, thanking tho board foi the resolution of appreciation passed at the last meeting, and the secretary reported that the number of outpatients for the month was 51G. ■ The following committees were elected for the ensuing year House Committee—Messrs Green,, Robin, Wright, and Miller; Finance .Committee—Messrs Smith, Brown, Myers, and Miller. This concluded the business.
