A woman named M'Donald, residinb at Alexandria, poisoned her baby with phosphorus, took the same compound herself, and then jumped from a- balcony. The child is dead, but the mother is still living. Domestic worries were the cause .of the rash act. THE COMMAND OF THE AUSTRALIAN STATION. ADELAIDE, January 16, Rear-admiral Beaumont has arrived. His vice-admiral's promotion is due in two years, which will probably be the length of his service on the Australian station.
