Accounts have been passed for payment amounting to':— Municipal No. 1 account, £4248 lis Id; Water No, 2 account, £1087 10s 9d ; gas No. 3 account, £3518 8s 10d; —total, £8864 103 Bd, The Pubiio Works Committee recoinmend that Mr H. I>\ Moss's offer of a toad roller for sale at £90 be declined. The city surveyor has been instructed as follows:—To act with reference to request from Mr James A. Walcotb for formation of steps at the corner of Arthur and Cargill streets; to act as to complaint from Messrs Thomas Johnstone, Joseph Felthtini, and William Taylor, of the state of the footpath in front Of their premises ill Manse street; to instruct that oil exceptional occasions Cumberland street, between St. Andrew and Albany Streets, is to be watered; to aot with his'Worj ship the Mayor and the chairman as to draw; ing up specifications for duot cart with sugI gested alterations, with a view to calling for tenders for four.new carts. With reference to the complaint from the National Mutual Lifo Association of Australasia (Limited) of their' Cellars being flooded by leakage from the street Ohanhel in Bond stroet, a reply has been sent that the city surveyor reports that the street channel is not the cause of the leakage referred to. The Reserves Committee recommend that tlie Council re-enter upon allotments 77 and 81, subdivision of section 6, block VII, Town district, South Duiiedin, leased to William Kennedy, also upon allotments 14 and 16, subdivisions of sections 8, 0, and 10, and pa,rt 53, "VVakaji district, leased to Annie M. Inglis and James Douglas Scoullar respectively, and take possession in terms of lease for non-payment of rent. The city surveyor has been instructed as follows:—To have repairs effected to Burns statue at a cost of £3; to attend to the clearing of the pipes supplying water to tho ponds in the Gardens; to aot as to employing three men extra for cutting gorse on the Town Belt; to 6eo that instructions formerly given as to enlarging the urinal at the Botanical Gardens arc carried out. The General Committee report that during the past fortnight -370 cattle,- 2752 sheep, 721, lambs, 168 pigs, and S9 calves were slaughtered at the abattoir, of which two cattle, two sheep, and two pigs were condemned as unfit for food. ■Mr J; J.
