Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. A DETECTIVE STABBED. SYDNEY, January 7. (Received January 8, at 1.40 a.m.) A great sensation was caused to-night. While a dense crowd was congregated in the vicinity of the General Post Office listening to the band Detective Toonry, who came over from Brisbane, was stabbed in the back. A man nn.med Baker, alleged to be a well-known Queensland α-iminal, has been arrested. Toomy is in a serious condition. \ OBITUARY. Sir Edward Knox, chairman of the Colonial Sugar Company, ,i well-known figure in connection with other commercial and philanthropic institutions. WESTRALIA'S REVENUE. PERTH. January 7. The revenue for the half-year was £39,500 beyond the Treasurer's anticipations.
