BROAD BAY REGATTA.

. In connection with tho Broad Bay Regatta the Broad Bay Cup Race, which was postponed on New Year's Day, was got off on the following day. A strong north-east wind was blowing. The race was over a triangular course, making a distance of about nine miles. The event was open to all sailing craft, and the,first prize was a silver cup presented by Mr A. H. Lumley, while the second waß 10s. The Waterwiteh got the best of the etart and the Dash considerably the worst, as by Borne means she lost about four minutee before getting away. By splendid Bailing, however, she obtained third position when coming round the buoy in the second round, the first and second places being held'by the Pastime and the Clematis. The Pastime continued in the lead, , and completed the distance in lhr 33min, the Dash' finiehing 50sec later, while the Clematis, occupied third place, her time being lhr Kiriin 18eec. The Waterwiteh finished in lhr 35min 40eec, the Dream in lhr 26min 56sec, and the Gem in lbr, 43min 30sec. The Carbine did not finish. Allowing for handi'pap, hpwever, the Dash (12min) was placed first, the Waterwiteh (9min) second, and the Pastime (bct) ; third. The regatta is expected to yield a surplus of about £9; while from the concert about £8 was realised.
