The Lawrence Borough Council invite TENDERS for the PURCHASE of— (1) 30 DEBENTURES of £100 each, being the amount required to be borrowed for the Repayment of an Existing Loan, maturing "on 28th February, 1901. (2) 50 DEBENTURES of £100 each, being the amount required to be borrowed for the purpose of Lighting the Borough of Lawrence with Electricity. Tenderers to state the rate of interest required. The Debentures will be for the term of twenty-one years, from the 23th February, 1901. Interest thereon will be payable half-yearly on the 28th August nnd 28th February in cacli yenr. Principal and interest may be made payable in Dunedin or Lawrence at the option of the holders. The security for the loans will be the rents and revenue of the Borough of Lawrence, and each | Debenture and each coupon thereof is a debt of the corporation to the holders thereof. The Council will not necessarily accept any tender. A deposit of 5 per cent, on the amount tendered for must accompany each tender, which I will be returned to unsuccessful tenderers; the balance will be required to be paid on the issue of the Debentares not later than 2Sth February, 1001.
