SUICIDE AT THE WHARF.

BODY FOUND WITH ARMS TIED.

About 9 o'clock on Saturday morning an object, was observed floating in the basin between tho tongue wharf and the Kattray street wharf, and a boatman named Madignn, rowing out, discovered that it was the body of a man. The body was got to the shore, and Sergeant Higgins, on making- an examination, found it was that of John Kinsley, a carter, who had been missing for a fortnight. Deceased worked on tlitf wharves, and the police had commenced on .Saturday to make inquiries into liis absence. The ease was evidently one of deliberate suicide, as the deceased's wrists were tied together with a leather strap in such a way as to prevent any effort to strike out in the water. The unfortunate man, however, had evidently repented of his rash deed at the last moment, for his left wrist had got free, but too late apparently to enable him to help himself. The body was removed to the Wharf Hotel, whore an inquest wap hold at 4- p.m. before Mr C. C. Graham and a jury of six. Evidence was given to the effect that deceased was a- single man, about 60 years of age, and had been very despondent of late. He had been hoard to state that he would commit suicide. A verdict of " Suicide by drowning whilst temporarily insane " was returned.
