APPLICATIONS, are invited from STEAMSHIP OWNERS stating the SUBSIDY that wou'd be required for a TWO (2) YEARS' SERVICE between NEW ZEALAND, WEST AUSTRALIA, and SOUTH AFRICA. The steamers would require to be of not less than about 4090 tons resistor, and tq have suitable REFRIGERATING ACCOMMODATION for the Conveyance of FROZEN MEAT and DAIRY PRODUCE. It is also desirable that PASSENGER ACCOMMODATION should be provided, and applicants will be required to state what passenger accommodation would be available. The steamers to leave New Zealand about once every Six (6) Weeks; steamers calling at not less than Three (3) nor more than Six (0) New Zealand Ports, such ports to be named in the conditions of contract. From the final port the steamers would proceed to Fremantle, Westralia, and thence to i Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, and i Capetown. It is necessary that the draught of steamers, when loaded, should be slated, as it is desirable that it should be such as would enable them to enter South African (3) ports, and proceed In commuting the Subsidy required it would be a condition that the rates of freight upon n.lleareo shonld not exceed those ruling between the colony and London by the ordinary steamship lines.
