THE EXPORT OF GOLD. WELLINGTON, December 5. The gold exports of last month amounted to 19,73902, of the value of £70,957, as against 26,8290z, of the value of £104,072 in November, 1599. The exports of several ports :were: — Auckland, 14,2950z, of tho value of £49,175; Westport, 11240z, valued at £4500; Greymouth, IGOOoz, valued at £6762; Dunedin, 14510z, valued at £5804; Invercargill, 11790z, valued at £4716. • The export of silver was 33,2740z, of the value of £3391, or about 7000oz more than November, 1899. — Among the botanical curiosities which have been found in the Isthmus, of Tehuan--tepeo, lately much explored by naturalists, is a, botanical clock. In the morning it is white, at noon it is red. and at night blue, and the alterations of colour are so regular that the time of day can be told from the tint of the flower.
