Daily Times Office, Monday evening Tho amount of revenue collected at tho custom house to-day on goods cleared for conconsumption was £2253 14s 3d. A sale of considerable,importance 4o South Canterbury farmers will take place shortly. Arrangements are in progress for the subdivision of the well-known Bankfiekl estate, situated at St; Andrew's, on the Main Trunk railway line, 12 miles couth of Timaru. The property Was an early selection, and has eight miles of road frontages, Well watered, and well-appointed buildings, and admirably adapted for subdivision into.'compact farms. This estate has always been noted for its stock, more especially its Border Leicester and Lincoln sheep. Seeing Hie strong demand for land of this class, no doubt a very keen interest will be taken in the disposal of the property. Messrs W. J. The year's operations have increased the balance to the credit of profit and loss aecotmt by £305 Os Gd, and this, without taking into consideration the outstanding premiums (£1391 11s),,which, if added, wouW show an aggregate profit on the operations of the society *o date to £2632 19s 9d, representing a profit of about £1 Vh Id per share. Your directors, pursuing the policy of previous years, have credited profit and loss account only witn the profits in hand to date. In the course .of the year the society has held ten appropriations —five by sale, and five by ballot,—the former realising a total of £742 10s. A considerable increase in the nninbev of the appropriations will take place during the .present year. Of the 1688 shares on the books during the year, -4/ have been forfeited, leaving a balance, of 1641. A statement of the position of tlie securities is attached, as in tho previous year, which will enable you to ascertain how your funds fire secured. Your directors held 21 ordinary and special meetings during the year. These were all well attended. The retiring directors are Messrs Myers, Cole, and M'lndoe, who are eligible for re-election; and offer themselves accordingly. The auditors, Messrs T. K. Hatty and W. T. Monkman, also ofior themselves for re-election." GRAIN AND PEODTJCE .REPORTS. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report having held their weekly sale of gruin and produce on Monday. The attendance of buyers was small, and most of the lots on oSer were withdrawn for want of competition. Oats.—There ia a steady demand for good to prime lines for shipment at prices on a par with late values. > Other sorts arc not inquired for. We quote: Prime milling Is BJd to Is 9d, good to bsst feed Is 7d to Is Bd, medium Is 5d to Is GJd per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—Prime milling quality continues to claim the attention of buyers, medium being somewhat, neglected. Good whole fowl wheat is readily quitted at quotations'; prime milling sells at, 2s Cd to 2a Stl, medium 2a 2d to 2s od, whole fowl wheat 2i> to 2s , id, broken and damaged Is 9d to Is lid per bushel, (sacks in). Potatoes.—The market is bare of prime Dcrwents, and prices have advanced about 5s per ton: We quote best at £% others 32s Gd to 373 Gd per ton (sacks in). Chaff.—Prime oaten sheaf is not over plentiful, and meets with ready aale at £2 10s, extra heavy to £2 12s 6d, medium quality IB in oversupply and difficult to quit", while inferior is unsaleable, medium to good sells at £2 to £2 ss. pev ton (bags extra). Messre Dalgety and Co, report having held their usual weekly auction sale on Monday before tho usual attendance of buyers. The de'raana during the past week has been fairly brisk, and prices are unchanged. Oats.—Prime milling. Is Ssd to 1b 9d, good to best feed Is 7d to Is Bd, medium Is 5d to Is ma (bags extra). . . ■Wheat.—A good demand exists for all prime samples, but medium quality is not in request. Fowl feed, however, is readily rateable. Quotations: Prime velvet and Tuscan 25 6d to 2s Sd, medium 2s 2d to 2s sd, fowl feed 2s to 2s Id, broken Is 9d io Is lid (bags in). Potatoes.—Consignments of prime northern Derwents have be'jn ecarco during tlie week, consequently prices have advanced. We quote: Prime northern Derwants to £2, other sorts 30s to 35s (bags in). . Chaft—Prime oaten sheaf is in good tie-' mand, but medium quality is over-plentiful and very difficult of sale. Prime oaten sheaf £2 7s 6d to £2 10s, medium quality £2 to £2 5s (bags extra). CLUTHA STOCK SALES. Messrs Matheson, Pram. and Co.-report: — We" held our usual fortnightly sale at this centre on Friday last. There was a veiy large entry of cattle, and a good yarding of sheep. The attendance of those interested was good, and the demand for all classes of stock was quite up to the usual, and mostly all lots offered changed hands at satisfactory prices. Prime cattle sold at up to £9, good stores and bullocks up to £7, good spayed heifers up to £6, prime sheep up to IBs, good stores up to 14s lid, ordinary hoggets at 12s to 14s, pigs at 5s to 8s 3d. We yarded 53 head cattle, 370 sheep, and 3 pigs, and sold for Messrs G. Fisher. S. "Wright, Sarginsou and Son, Muir, and Burloy, A. M'Loan, T. Soper, Mortal's tuistees, and others at quotations. Privately, since last report, we have sold at this and other centres" 3855 freezing and storo sheep, 1300 ewes, 900 hoggets, 290 head cattle, and 25 horses.
