MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Friday, August 10. (Before Mr C. C. Graham, S.M.)
In the following cases his Worship entered lip judgment by default for the plaintiffs: — Edward John JtSiy&nt v. Rupert Isaac, claim £&, being balance due on a- promissory note; R. Jamieson and Co. v. William liater (Reetton), claim £28 18s, for goods supplied; Hugh Calder (for whom Mr Moore appeared) -v. John Palmer, claim' £3, on an account; Edward John Bryant v. James Coombs, claim £9, on a promissory note (there was a second party summoned as a defendant in this case,' but he confessed judgment). L. A. Mariacher v. Arthur Commin.—Claim £3 17s Kd, for goods supplied.—Mr A. S. Adams appeared for plaintiff, and Mr D. D. Macdonald for defendant.—After hearing the case, his Worship gave judgment for defendant with costs (21s). ■
William John Watson- v. Soren Christian Soienson.—Claim £126 0s Gel, on a judgment suirrnons.—Mr Solomon appeared for plaintiff, and judgment was varied by consent, defendant being ordered to pny by nicnthlv instalments of £i. ' • , ■ ■ . ■ -
James M'Mullen (Green Inland) v. Jas. Gray. —Claim £3 3s, for bread and cakes supplied to defendant's house.—Mr J. F. M. Fraser (instiucted by Mr Macdonald) appeared for plaintiff, and Mr W. C. MacGrcgor for. defendant.— The defence in this ease was that, defendant had expressly warned-plaintiff not- to supply the goods to his wife, and he accordingly decided the liability.—-After hearing the case Ins Worship gave judgment for defendant with costs amounting to £1 19s Bd.
