CONCERT AT GARRISON HALL.
..An. entertainment was given in the Garrison Hall last night in aid of the St. Joseph's Hall .improvement fund. The programme consisted chiefly rf vocal items and gymnastic displays, •ana ench part was introduced by choruses from the pupils of the St. Joseph's Girls' Club and the Sacred Heart School. Miss Rose Blaney appeared twice during the evening—first to sing" Didst them but know " (Ealfi)^ and later on in the evening to give " Korv. darline" (Hope lemple). Miss Blaney was in excellent voice, and her rendering of both lumbers gave genuine pleasure. Mr Jsgo's sorifjs were "°l'hy sentinel am I" (Watson) and "The soldier's lionj" (Mascheroni). Mr E. Eas»av gave a highly enjoyable rendering of "-Come into the garden, Maud," and his- othei solo^ " The gauntlet," also proved acceptable to the audience. A feature of the entertainment was the^ excellent gymnastic work clone on the horizontal bar by some members of the St. Joseph's Club, under the direction of Mr ,7. C. Smith. The exercises were neatly and gracefully executed, and evoked hearty applause from the audience. Mr Smith himself was in >-cry good form, and led off the various movements with an agility and finish that only comes of incessant practice. The clumbell exercises and feats performed on the. vaulting horse by the pupils of the Christian Brothers' School were also good. Mention should also bo /nade of a, graceful display set down as a ." floral march" made by a number of children ;rom the Dominican Kindergarten School, and a, Bohemian dance performed by pupils of the Sisters of Mercy. Mr F. Stokes made an efficient accompanist.
