THE FUNERAL OF KING HUMBERT.
A NATION'S SORROW,
Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright, ROME, August 10. (Received August 11, at 1 a.m.),
King Humbert's funeral was a wonderfully impressive demonstration of national sorrow. Hundreds of thousands of bareheaded mourners watched the procession in absolute silence. Fifty thousand foreigners were present, and 200 • clergy. The young King, the Dukes of Aosta, Genoa, Oporto, Sparta, and Argyll,' Princes Nekina, Danilo, Henry of Prussia, and Ferdinand of Bulgaria, and Count Turin followed the cortege. At one point the procession was brought to a sudden stop through a causeless panic. Someone in the crowd cried: "A bomb; they have killed' the king." The Princes drew their swords, and rallied round the King. The panic then soon subsided. ■ ■ "
The Archbishop of Genoa celebrated a majestic mass in the Pantheon. Queen Margherita and the Princess of Savoy were present. .
