THE ELANDS RIVER GARRISON.
SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN CAP-
TURED
LONDON, August 8. (Received. August 10, at 9 a.m.)
Lord Roberts reports that he fears the Elands River garrison, under Lieutenantcolonel Hoare, have been captured, after holding out against the enemy for- 10 days.
The surmise, is that Commandant De La Rey, who was besieging Rustenburg, abandoned the chance of capturing General Baden-Powell and hurried up to the Elands Rivei garrison, where firing ceased on Monday (6th)'. ■ N
No details are given as to the number of men in the, garrison.
Generals Hamilton and Baden-Powell left Rustenburg for Elands River on ■ Tuesday.
