DIVIDED OPINIONS,

The- guns of the warship Terrible have been mounted on the British Consulate at Shanghai.

Admiral Seymour recommends landing 3000 men at Shanghai, but Mr J. . Goodnow, the American Consul-general there, opposes such a course on the ground that it would create trouble. , The French Consul also disapproves.
(Received August 11, at 0.35 a.m.)
Mr Goqdnow reports that a considerable British force has been landed at Shanghai. A cdmplete Indian Brigade will be landed by the 12th.
