OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.

THE SUMMER SHOW.

The subcommittee appointed at the last monthly meeting to revise the catalogue for tho forthcoming summer show have met on several evenings during this week. The general regulations have' been carefully revised. The question of arranging 'to have more stock judged during the first day of the show evoked considerable discussion. It was ultimately decided to start judging at 9 a.m. on the second day of the show, so that a, parade of stock could be held early in the afternoon.

In many of the classes additional prize money has been offered, and in the merino sections separate classes have been added tor imported sheep. In both the Shorthorn and polled Angus sections extra classes have been added, and in the horse sections the classes have all been revised, and, to encourage better competition, the prize money has been increased. For tho leaping matches and polo contests £40 is.offered in prizes, and it is proposed to add several other attractions.

The following arc some of the special prizes so far allocated:—Messrs D. W. G-ibb and Co., silver cup for most points in merino, and Mr D. Campbell (Otekaike) £5 5s for best pen of merino ewes with half bred lambs at foot; Mr William Patrick's trophy, value £20, will again be awarded fpr most points pained in the brood mares' classes. Messrs- Wright, Stephensou, sind Co. again offer sgs for the exhibitor gaining most points in sections 19 ahd 20 (draught horses), and £3 3s is offered as a special prize to tho exhibitors gaining most points in the classes for shorthorn and polled Angus and Avrshires.

The Grounds Committee have decided to erect a number of extra stalls on the ground for the convenience of exhibitors, and hay» also under consideration the advisability of erecting a grand stand.
