POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY.
IN TOWN,
The revival of "In Town" at the Princess Theatre last night drew a very good house, and perhaps this was only to be''expected,, as tha Pollard Opera Company; have never yet produced this merry musical comedy before a thin audience in Dunedin. Mr Percy, as. the impecunious and light-hearted Captain- Coddington, was the life of the piece, and there was never a dull moment while he was on the stage. Miss Nellie "Wilson exploited a new field in taking the part of the impressionable sprig of nobility, Lord CJanside, and the- cordial ap-' proval of her acting called.-forth showed'thai the audience were gratified at her success. Miss Gertie Campior., as Kitty Hetherington, prima. donna at the Ambiguity I'heatre, acted and sang with a charming freshness and grace, and was rewarded with unstinted applause from the house. The Diike of Muff shire was -well represented by Mr Alf. Stephens, while Misa Jeannie Opie made a stately and con^ vincing duchess, , from - the- rigour .of whose domestic ■ rule His .' Grace sought relief in the lively society of the pretty actresses at the Ambiguity. ■ Mr C. Albert as Shrimp (a call boy), and Mr Quealy as the Rev. Samuel- Hopkins were responsible for a good deal of the fun'during the-even-ing. ■ . '.•.■■
To-night " H.M.S. Pinafore" will be staged.
