There was' a. fair, attendance of the public, including a few buyers, but as their views as to value did not harmonise with those of the vendor, no business was done under the hammer, but negotiations for the sale of the property py private treaty are now pending,, an-1 as Mr Stewart is prepared to' sell at a price at which the farm can be made -to pay handsomely, it should, not remain long in the. market unsold. DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:--
We had a very small entry .of horses for Saturday's sale—sonic half-dozen draughts and 12 or 15 medium hacks and harness horses. The draughts, which were Useful horses, sold at £43, £39, £34, £30, £25, and £23. The light horses were an inferior lot,, and. very few of them changed hands. The demand for good horses of all classes continues Very satisfactory, and sales of fresh, sound,. young -horses are not difficult to effect. We quote: Superior young draught geldings,' £45 to £50; extra good, prize horses, £52 to £57; medium draught mares and geldings, £35 to £42; aged do, £22 to' £32; upstanding carriage horßos, £25 to £30; well-matched carriage pairs, £30 to_£7o; strong spring-van horses, £25 to £30; milk cart and butchers' order- cart horses, £15 to £20: tram horses, £9 to £14 j light-hacks, £6 to £8; extra good hacks, £18 to £25; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, £2 to £5.
