FIGHTING NEAR BETHLEHEM.
THE BLACK WATCH LOSE HEAVILY.
LONDON, July 27, (Received July 27, at 10.25 p.m.)
General Hunter attacked a strongly-en-trenched position in the hills south of Bethlehem. Retief's Nek especially was stubbprnly defended.
The Black Watch lost 50, including Major E. M. Willshire, mortally wounded.
.TRYING TO CUT BULLER'S COM- . MUNICATIONS. LONDON, July 27. (Received, July 27, at 10.25 p.m.) The Boers attempted to cut General Buller's communications with Natal. After three days' skirmishing,. General Hildyard drove the Boers northwards with considerable loss.
