SOUTH REN MAORI MISSION.

A committee meeting of tho Southern Maori Mission was held at the Bible Depot, Princes street, on Friday, July 20, at which there were present six members and the hon. secretary. Mr Neho Papakakura, the Native missionary and colporteur, was present, and presented a report of the work done since the last meeting. . M.oeraki and tuketeraki have been visited, and profitable meetings held amongst the Native?. Mr' Neho left again for the north on Saturday.'- Mr Rosevear, Bible Depot, hon. treasurer to the mission, acknowledges with |hanks receipt of the following .donations:—Friend, Purakanui, £1; Mrs C. Sunday school, Milton, ss; X.Y.Z.. 10s; Miss Symington, St. Paul's Church, Oamaru, lls 6d; Miss D.. Gladstone, AVairarapa, 10s; Mr N.P., 10s.

—Dr Blylh, the jncdienl officer of health and analyst for St. Marylobone, mentions in iiis lost report, as proof of the instinctive discriminating power possessed by mice, that thefe intelligent animals nre able to distinguish between margarine and butter. In the court house laboratory they naver attack the remnants of samples of margarine, but are very fond of butter. A QUESTION FOR THE DOCTOR. Would it not be desirable to consult tna doctor as to which Eony> commends itself our uses, as so many skins' are rained past redemption by inferior soaps?
