A QUESTION OF TEMPERATURE.
TO THE EDITOE.
1 Sik, —I see by. this morning's issue of your paper that someone has been referring to tho temperature of Dunedin as recorded in the daily weather, reports, and concluding therefrom that Nelson is a much colder place than, this southern city. . .
The gentleman who made the comparison might have gone further, and, from the same authority, argued that Dunedin during this winter was generally warmer than "Wellington, Christchurch, Oamaru, and, Port Chalmers. It is rather a singular fact, however, that tha temperature of spirits on the Dunedin wharf was from 2deg to 7deg warmer than the recorded temperature of Dunedin on every occasion that I have made the inquiry driring the past two months—and I must have made tho inquiry on at least 20 different days. In winter the. temperature of spirits should be" colder by-at-least 2deg than that of the atmosphere.—l. am, etc., Nelsoniaw.
