PRESENTATION.
Pipe-major A.' Gray was on Monday evening the recipient of a very handsome goldmounted Malacca cane, subscribed for by the members of the Dunedin Pipe Band, in recognition of- the great services he has rendered in organising the band and teaching the young yiipers. To Mr Gray is due whatever merit the band may now possess; and though the gift cannot recompense him for the sacrifice of time devoted to the band's service, it will serve to show how much'his efforts have been appreciated by the pipers themselves. The recipient thanked the men for their gift, and congratulated them on the manner in which they have worked together for the common good. . He expressed satisfaction ;.t die present position of the' band, and hoped *oon to sco them fully equipped and uniformed iv the Highland garb. Subscriptions keep dropping in , from patriotic Scots and lovers of pipe music, and the funds are nearly high enough to justify them in ordering the uniforms. It is advisable, .however, tq start free of debt, and when the present patriotic appeals are satisfied an effort will be made lo collect the necessary funds, and hand over the Pipe Band to the town fully .equipped.
