The Works Committee recommended thatMr Ford's application for. pipes be granted. That the inspector be instructed to top dress the paths in Frederick street as soon;as the men could be spared to do the. work. That the tender of Mr J. Hill to empty ashpits at Is per month per house be accepted. That further notice be given to clear gorse from the corporation allotments adjoining Forth street, failing compliance the work to bo done at the owner's expense. That.-Mr. Fisher he informed that the widening of Anderson Crescant, opposite his property, cannot be undertaken at present. That the concrete kerV) and channel be laid down King street, Waverley, by the daymen, and, if necessary, the inspector be authorised to employ two additional men for the ordinary surfacing while this' work is being done. The report stated that the inspector had been instructed to take E>teps to abate the nuisance arising from Waite's fellmongery, Kaikorai; to lay aback
channel in asphalt in Forth street, near Mr Love's property; to employ a man to,clear weeds and obstructions from the Kaikoriu main drain, and to repair.the concrete channel on the Kaikorai main road. They recommended that the clerk be instructed to inter-view'property-ovfners on the west side of the Kaikorai road, between City road and Jame3 street, and ascertain on what terms they would dispose of sufficient land to widen the road to the extent of 10ft, and report to next meeting.—Adopted, •
The Finance Committee recommended'the payment of accounts amounting: to £171 13s, and.reported that the bank overdraft stood.at £877.—Adopted. ' ' ;'.'; Nine letters were received from residents ashing that the night-roil contractor might be sent to their houses.—Mr J. Hill,-the contractor, wrote.a long explanatory letter concerning Ills contract.—Received.
Duncan nnd MaeGregor wrote re the Roslyu tramway, that when the old company was reconstructed it became necessary to transfer over.to the new company the deed of delegation. Under this deed the.consent of the council was required to an assignment, which they enclosed. They asked that the seal of the borough be attached to tlie form of consent.-—A motion was carried consenting to the granting of the deed of assignment .from the .old. Roslyn Tramway; Company and the liquidator to the new Roslyn Tramway Company, assigning the old company to tho new company , the , deed .of . delegation between tlie mayor, councillors. ; and burgesses of Roslyn and the Roslyn Tramway Company;.' and that tho seo.l he affixed to the consent endorsed on the assignment.
