ACTIVITY AT WEST HARBOUR.
A meeting of the committee recently formed I in West Harbour for the purpose of organising to raise fundo to purchase and equip a horso for the Ritvensbournc volunteer was hold in the Council Chambers last night, the Mayor,(Mr 11. E. Moller) presiding. The collectors appointed .at the last meeting reported having canvassed the district, and received liberal reaponso in the raising of funds. A considerable sum has been collected, and it is hoped that the public meeting on Friday . evening and the regatta to take place on Saturday (the proceeds of which will go to the equipment fund) will provide the balance of the money required. Several speakers will address the meeting on Friday evening, and patriotic songs and recitations by Dunedin : friends will be rendered. The Highland pipers | will visit tho district, and also render some items at the concert in the nail. From the enthusiasm evinced, it is evident that tho residents of West Harbour (many of whom i have already contributed in Dunedin) are not ■ going to be behind in the matter of doing I their full share towards assisting in the geneI ral movement now being made. Owing to I the limited space available in the hall, it has been decided not to have any half-price, and to encourage the children it is intended to arrange a children's patriotic concert at a later date.
